Ron Paul: Troop withdrawal won't end U.S. involvement - “I think it will be unstable for a long time to come, and we will continue to spend a lot of money in Iraq — money that would be much better spent taking care of our people back here at home.”

Ron Paul said this morning that he’s skeptical the Dec. 31 withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq will signify a true end to American interventions in the embattled nation.
President Obama confirmed Friday the end-of-the-year deadline, a date that was originally set in a 2008 accord.
“I predict we will be very, very much involved in Iraq,” Paul said during a townhall meeting at the Embassy Suites in downtown Des Moines. “I think it will be unstable for a long time to come, and we will continue to spend a lot of money in Iraq — money that would be much better spent taking care of our people back here at home.”
The Texas Congressman’s comment drew a round of applause from the crowd of roughly 130 people, and during his hour at the microphone those gathered interrupted his speech three more times to clap and whistle in enthusiasm when Paul hammered home his foreign policy points.
The GOP presidential candidate has committed to withdrawing troops from Iraq, Afghanistan and other foreign nations if elected.
